The Early Days….
An alumni of Nottingham Trent University BA Honours Theatre Design, Fiona has a highly creative back-ground having worked back stage for television and theatre companies such as Carlton TV studios and the Royal Shakespeare Company to name a few. Destined to be a business owner, Fiona’s business acumen derived from buying and selling from a young age, which quickly taught her the fundamentals of business and negotiation. Starting work within the families hairdressing business at the age of thirteen at weekends and in holidays, whilst at school, college and university at her families chain of locally famous hairdressers – Peppers, Fiona learnt the people/social skills that were to carry her through her career to date.
How It Began…
Upon graduating University, Fiona embarked on a sales role at corporate giant RBS, which quickly led to looking after the events and staff incentives in-house for the company. After two and a half years, Fiona entered into the world of advertising and marketing for a regional glossy lifestyle magazine, which included field and telesales, account management and editorial contribution. This was the inspiration that led her to launch her own business in marketing & events. In 2008 her new brand RSViP launched to Nottingham, which began its life as an event management company, taking on a contract as a wedding co-ordinator at a stately home, as well as a role within Nottingham Rugby Club, looking after their corporate hospitality & PR alongside building up her brand. If that wasn’t enough Fiona was head-hunted and offered the role as editor in chief of a regional digital business magazine called Affari, which at the same time she became equal share holder of with two business partners.
What Came Next…
Soon after Fiona put her energy into launching another business network to Nottingham and Derby aimed at women in property and construction – WREN (Women’s Real Estate network) with the assistance of a carefully chosen committee, which is still going strong over six years later.
Fiona’s brand RSViP has diversified into the established and extremely popular business network it is today, boasting thousands of companies as clients from SME’s to well known and respected corporate firms over the years from a wide range of industries in the East Midlands and further afield -the business celebrated its 9th year in May 2017 and now Fiona’s passion alongside running her successful networks is to share her knowledge with others in the wonderful world of networking and events via enjoyable and interactive workshops and mastermind sessions, as well as mentor and support business students at both Nottingham Universities.
